  • Canine Boarding Suites

Our boarding suites are separate from the rest of the hospital and are climate controlled with A/C in the summer and heated floors in the wintertime. The larger than standard suites have elevated Kuranda dog beds with fresh linen changed daily as well as TV access for your pets' viewing and listening pleasure. Our guests are walked daily, having access to our 25acre farm. Please book ahead to avoid disappointment especially during holiday times! A copy of our boarding agreement including our vaccination and parasite control policies may be downloaded from our clinic forms section on our website.Vetsuite_Img_30894

  • Kitty Condos

In a quiet nook of the hospital bathed in natural sunshine, we have our Kitty Condos for our feline boarding guests. Separate from our hospitalized patients and canine boarders, the kitty condo suite houses large 5 foot long units with clear glass doors,  fleece-covered resting perches and and a porthole connecting two private spaces. The room has a separate ventilation system from the rest of the hospital and guests are allowed to play, watch TV and look outside at the scenery while boarding with us. This helps alleviate boredom and decreases the stress that some sensitive felines may have when staying away from home. Please book early to avoid disapppointment and you may view a copy of our boarding agreement including information on our vaccination and parasite control policy from the clinic forms section of our website.Vetsuite_Img_30904

  • Ultrasound

Ultrasound enables us to see internal structures by transmitting high frequency sound waves into the body. Identical to the technology used in human medicine (particularly human pregnancy evaluation), this process is non-invasive and is not painful.  Ultrasound is often combined with radiology (taking x-rays) at our hospital in order to help formulate a diagnosis in your pet. We are also able to perform biospsies of internal organs using ultrasound guidance. In selected cases, this can decrease the need for expensive and more invasive surgery sometimes needed to obtain a diagnosis.Vetsuite_Img_39384

  • Dentistry

Dental disease is the number one under diagnosed disease in our pets. Pet dental disease can lead to bad breath, oral pain and serious organ disease such as kidney and heart valvular dysfunction. We are proud to announce the opening of our new dental suite in 2009. This specialized area of the hospital houses our digital dental x-ray machine and all the equipment needed to perform dental cleaning, diagnostics and sugery. Once performed in our general treatment area, COHAT's (Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment) are now performed in this comfortable, quiet area dedicated solely to the treatment of dental disease in your pet. We strongly believe that a healthy mouth promotes better overall wellness and comfort in our pets.Vetsuite_Img_35543

  • Digital Dental X-rays

All pets receiving a COHAT (Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment) at our hospital have dental x-rays performed as part of their complete oral health evaluation. Because 2/3rd's of your pet's teeth are underneath the gumline, serious oral health issues can be missed if dental xrays are not taken. Our new digital dental x-ray system allows us to take x-rays that are developed faster and integrated well into our computer record system. They also allow us to send high quality images via telemedicine if advice is needed from veterinary dental specialists should a complicated case be encountered.Vetsuite_Img_56443

  • Emergency Service - What to do out of hours

We believe that a fully staffed veterinary emergency hospital provides the best care for your beloved pet when our office is not open. Like most small animal hospitals out of regular office hours, our hospital is not staffed with medical professionals throughout the evening, during weekends and holidays (see our hours of operation). Urgent and emergency veterinary care is directed to Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic (www.hvecbarrie.com), a hospital that is staffed with an experienced emergency veterinarian and qualified medical staff ready to tend to your pet's needs and provide intensive care monitoring if required during the hours we are not open. Huronia VEC may be contacted at 705 722-0377 and is located at 115 Bell Farm Road in Barrie. Records of your visit are faxed to us the next business day so we can provide continued care of your pet. Details of how to contact Huronia VEC and how to get there are posted on our answering machine afterhours. Just call our regular office phone number.

You may apply for Medi Card directly using the website www.petcard.ca or pick up an application at our office.  All major pet insurance plans are accepted and processed at our clinic.
